Database Connectivity

  • UNICODE
    You can now connect directly to a UNICODE data source and enter UNICODE data via the keyboard, allowing you to easily access text files or databases in other languages. It is also possible to copy and paste items from other UNICODE applications such as Microsoft Word, Excel or a text editor
  • OLE DB
    Use OLE DB connections and providers to access data (in addition to the Native ASCII File and ODBC access options already available)
  • File DSN
    File Data Source Name (DSN) support allows you to store parameters in files and share them among labels, accumulate values, store pre-defined lists and more.

Bar Codes

  • MaxiCode Wizard
    Helpful new wizard walks you through the creation of a MaxiCode bar code
  • New Symbologies
    Aztec Code, Aztec Mesa, EAN-14, ITF 16, Bookland, Pharmacode (1D), PLANET Code and VeriCode

Objects

  • Industry-Specific Graphics
    Includes hundreds of custom shapes and symbols for electrical indications, hazardous materials, textile care and more
  • New Shape Options
    Add arrows, polygons and other shapes
  • Full Justification for Paragraphs
    A new Full Justify option has been added for paragraph objects
  • Set By Default: Allows you to set default parameters to be used when another of the same type of object is created
  • New Image Settings: Image Size and Brightness/Contrast settings have been added.

 Variables

  • Improved Shared Variables Management
    You can now view and manage all shared variables of the same type without having to open a document and a variable of that type
  • New Input Tab Options:
    • From File option allows you to link a variable value to a text file.
    • Clear After Printing option allows you to erase the content of a file or reset a counter.
    • The Update File After Printing option is used to write a variable value to a file after printing
  • New Output Tab Options:
    • Output Mask option allows you to format a variable as you want it displayed. For example, when an output mask of ***-**-**** is applied to the data 012345678, the result is 012-34-5678.
    • Accumulate value option is used with Accumulator Files to accumulate and share field values among labels
  • New Form Tab
    Settings formerly contained in the Input tab have been reorganized into a new Form tab, along with the addition of several new Pick List options
  • Enhanced Pick List Options:
    • The Force Data to Come from the List option can be used to ensure that when printing or entering data in the form, the data must come from the predefined list set up for that variable.
    • The Selection by Default option defines the value to be selected by default in the form
  • New Date Tab
    The former Day and Hour tabs have been reorganized into one Date tab in version 7. The Date tab interface displays a list of predefined date formats from which to choose, or create a specialized date format using the Customized option
  • New Formulas
    New formulas have been added for check character calculations, mathematical functions and character string functions

Tools/Utilities

  • Job Modifier
    Modify printer code for on-the-fly changes to existing driver output
  • Command File Interpreter
    (Add-on to CODESOFT Platinum) The CFI utility allows a command file (simple text file) to be sent from another application and then it automatically prints labels based on the data within that file
  • Accumulator Files
    Accumulate and share field values among labels

Printing

  • Enhanced Print Time Options:
    • The Print dialog box has been redesigned for added usability.
    • The Print to File option now prints to a file (versus printing to a predefined port as it did previously).
    • The Printer dialog box features a new Port button that allows you to change the printer port without creating a new printer.
  • Enhanced Batch Print Manager
    You can now create queries and set printing parameters according to your needs for multi-document print jobs

RFID Enhancements

  • Simplified user interface screens for RF tag setup and programming
  • New "Picture name" setting
    Allows you to add your own graphic image to represent the size and placement of the RF tag within the label. This image will appear as a "watermark" background image on the label design screen, helping you to avoid printing over the RF tag area and potentially damaging it
  • When supported by the printer, bi-directional communication
    Can be used with RF tags to access the Unique ID of each tag during printing. This allows you to write the Unique ID to a history log file, and/or, if desired, assign the Unique ID to a field to be printed on the label
  • Read/write to EPC tags and Ultra-High Frequency (UHF) tags (when supported by your printer), in addition to tags supported in previous versions

 Active X

  • The following methods have been added in the Document interface:
  • HorzPrintOffsetVT_I4
    Sets or retrieves the horizontal Print offset.
  • VertPrintOffsetVT_I4
    Sets or retrieves the vertical Print offset.
  • The Options.DefaultDocumentPath VT_BSTR or String property has been added and can be used to set or retrieve the default document path
