IMS Northern Wind™ Rewinders

The IMS Northern Wind™ Rewinder is a tag and label rewinder for use with nearly all direct and thermal transfer printers. In fact, it's virtually universal! The IMS Northern Wind™ offers a unique design featuring an adjustable spring tension clutch, which allows the rewinder to mechanically turn the spindle, automatically. There is no need to manually wind the media when the printer stops printing. Economical application of media is possible by using promo applicators or by hand application.

The IMS Northern Wind™ Model 8419 Rewinder from Independent Machine Service is one of the first virtually universal tag and label winders for direct thermal and thermal transfer printers.

The IMS Northern Wind™ offers a totally unique design that lets the rewinder wind media from virtually every printer. This design feature is an adjustable sprint tension clutch allowing the rewinder to mechanically turn the spindle without winding the media when the printer stops printing. This means that the rewinder does not need to "communicate" with the printer and therefore can be used with almost every printer available. This also keeps the cost for the rewinder very affordable because there is no need for expensive communication technology.

This winding device is easy to use. It is easy to thread and has only two controls: an On/Off switch and a tension control. This control can be used to maintain consistent tension on the rewound roll if needed.

The Northern Wind is versatile and maximizes productivity of the thermal printer. There are four spindle sizes available. Two print widths are available (4.25" and 6.5") allowing for multiple across labels and tags. This takes advantage of the print width capacity of the printer.

The rewinder is sturdy yet portable. Heavy steel construction won't let you push this unit around and yet at only 18 pounds, it is easy to move - with no cables to disconnect!

Little maintenance is required.

Economical application is now possible for every thermal printer when using the Northern Wind™ in conjunction with applicators like the Sato Promo Touch applicators and multiple across media from IMS.
