ID TECH Trimag
Custom Three-Track Decoding Chip for Magnetic Stripes
ISO COMPLIANT
ID TECH's TriMag (IDT140) custom digital decoding IC is designed for use with magnetic
stripe reading applications. It is capable of decoding up to three tracks of ISO7811
compatible (F2F) magnetically encoded data at velocities from five inches per second
(ips)
to 55 ips. Additionally, it can accurately decode bit cells with amplitude variations down
to 30% and jitter of up to 30% (subinterval) as defined in the ISO7811-2 standards. "STATE-OF-THE-ART" ELECTRONICS
This breakthrough in decoding technology utilizes a high density 0.8 um CMOS integrated
circuit which results in low power state-of-the-art decoding technology. It is packaged in
a low profile 20-pin SOIC format which provides a small footprint and a low-cost solution.
A clock pulse is supplied with a data signal for each track of magnetic encoding using
Aiken (F2F) code. The chip has a "stand-by" mode which draws less than one
microamp of power supply current when enabled. It is versatile; capable of handling
single, dual or triple tracks of magnetic data by simply installing the appropriate
external components.
VERSATILE
This digital decoding IC is supported by ID TECH's field-proved front-end electronics,
which are used to amplify and condition most magnetic head outputs. It is uniquely
designed to compensate for different magnetic head characteristics by adjusting external
component values. ID TECH supports customer applications, both custom and standard, with
unequaled customer service and technical support.
