That's why it's critical to customize your cards with a security feature that's easy to identify, but virtually impossible to alter or duplicate.

If there is value to be gained from the fraudulent use of your cards, consideration must be given to protecting those cards from counterfeiting and alteration. If you do not protect your cards, then the first time an unsecured card is issued, there is a possibility your ID system, and ultimately your security, can be compromised.

Fargo's secure holograms are intended to help protect against the threat of counterfeiting, and to make your entire ID system and facility more secure. The security features built into holograms are very difficult to duplicate and provide your ID cards with differing levels of security that can frustrate even the most skilled counterfeiter.

You have a range of options: Your hologram, or optical variable device (OVD), can be rendered in a mechanical (one-dimensional appearance), low-resolution or high-resolution format. Each of these methods has their advantages, according to the level of security your ID system requires, as outlined in the SPECS tab in this section.

Once you've determined the level of security your organization needs, and the degree of detail your hologram should contain, you can choose the type of overlaminate material that best fits your application: Holograms in PolyGuard Overlaminate, Thermal Transfer Overlaminate and HoloMark Seals can be applied to any card printed with Fargo's Direct-to-Card or High Definition Printing technology. For cards printed with CardJet Printing Technology, Pressure Sensitive Patch Overlaminates can be personalized with your desired hologram. (See Supplies.)
