Collection Terminal
(downloadable evaluation copy at bottom)
The
Apex IV hand held terminal brings to the market, a rugged water and
dust-resistant pistol-grip terminal for the warehouse, and manufacturing
automation environments. Apex IV offers a unique combination of features
and functions not available in any other device such as two
user-accessible PC Card Slots, custom End Caps and an array of
user-selectable Li-Ion batteries ranging in capacity from 3100 mAh to an
impressive 4650 mAh. The Apex IV features include a full alpha-numeric
keypad, full graphic display (240 x 160 pixels) with user activated
backlighting, 8MB or 16MB of Flash memory and 4MB of on-board RAM. The
Apex IV incorporates a 32 bit Microcontroller @ 33 MHz and is a Wi-Fi™
(IEEE 802.11b) compliant wireless LAN product.
The Apex IV supports
Batch or RF operations via an internal type III PC Card port (capable of
simultaneously supporting two type I or II devices). This port provides
the user with numerous options for connectivity and memory expansion
including, but not limited to network interface adapters, high speed
modems (both wired and wireless), Flash drives and RAM disks.
Integrated into the Apex IV
is a laser scanner. Laser options include standard, long range, very
high density or advanced long range.
For immediate batch data collection
usage, each Apex IV is shipped with the following tracking
applications.

High Speed Data transmission to and
from the Apex IV can be accomplished via the infrared
interface or the Serial RS-232 Interface port contained within the
standard Apex IV end cap. The Apex IV comes
with Communications software.
The Apex IV
incorporates a DOS based operating system (ROM-DOS 7.1), thereby
supporting DOS applications, graphic displays and existing DOS user
software. An optional full-featured Windows based program generator can
assist the user in implementing most data collection applications.
